Hey guys, I just would like a little advice on integrating a cockere to an established flock.
My niece and nephew in-law have decided to adopt one of my roosters. He is 11 weeks old today, barnyard mix. They currently have 5 ladies who are 2 years old.
They are willing to take him anytime I am ready to part with him - ha! My question is, and I realize this opinion probably varies, but is it best to introduce him to his new girls now or wait until he is a bit bigger. I don’t mind hanging on to him until the right time. I just didn’t know if it’s best to get him there now before his hormones kick in or wait until they do?
What’s best for him? What’s best for their girls? Thanks in advance!
Here’s a pic of the handsome devil, Sam (aka: $h!thead, and we call him that with the utmost affection)
