Hello! I was given a 4 mth old mille fleur hen because she was getting picked on by the others, she is very docile and shy. Do you think it would be ok for me to integrate 1 mth old chicks with her? Thank you!

There are 5 of the younger ones, I kind of think it will be ok as well because of the older one's disposition but just wanted some opinions. I have successfully integrated an older , established flock with a younger flock by keeping them together but separate, just not this age group I have now. Thanks!I will be honest with you I have age gaps in mine and personally it's working out fine. The younger ones just accept the lower position a bit better and by the time they think of challenging it's minor stares and walk away situations. I think they will be fine if they have enough space, food and water. How many is she integrating into?
Oh no, it's s smaller flock, thanks for your insight!I think you will be alright since the 5 will for a time be able to rely on one another and then spread and mix in. I was thinking you were bringing a one into a larger situation. It's not a 30 bird adding one situation where you have a lot more variables.
A friend of mine kept a close watch o introducing his bullied chicken too his chicks. She became a bully herself
If I was to attempt this I would now be very cautious by keeping wire between them until they familiarise with each other plus giving treats so they can socially interact as they adjust![]()
I appreciate your insight! Treats are a great idea!
