Integration question - two chicks, two adults

Cool thread. I lost a hen to the neighbors dog the other day and was planning to add 2 pullets to the 4 hens I have left. I was going to keep the pullets in a wire dog crate in the run with their own food/water for a while. This thread makes me think my plan might work. Please chime in if I’m overlooking anything…..

I’m currently integrating 3 new chicks about 5 weeks old with my 3 older girls who are about 3 years old. I have a temp run for the littles alongside the main coop and run so they can see but not touch for now. I’ve been taking them outside for several days now, and I do bring them inside just to sleep still for safety. I’m planning to do this a bit longer so they can all get used to each other before placing the newbies in the coop at night. I want them to have some free range time together first too beforehand. This is similar to what we did at night with our first set of girls just from a predator safety perspective, eventually they naturally started to roost in the coop and became so content and we transitioned to allow them to sleep like normal in the coop from that point on.

This is my first time integrating so I’m sure I have more to learn as I go. So far so good, everyone is curious, but all are happy.
