I have just recently noticed an accumulation of runny white wet droppings on one of my hens and I went to clean her butt and saw her vent is very infected and swollen!! I think it may be vent gleet! Should I see a vet or should I try to treat it?

The vent is prolapsed, but I’m not sure why there is a mass to the left of the vent. Does the mass feel hard like an egg or like tissue? Do you notice a bad odor from her vent or poop? Is she able to poop or has she been straining? Could you soak her bottom in some warm soapy water or Epsom salts water for 15-20 minutes, to get her cleaned up? Take another picture. Keep the vent tissue moist with honey or petroleum jelly. Since this looks more complicated than a simple prolapse, a vet may be best.
