Interesting breakdown of the price of gas:

I have one for you.....this is an example based on averages.
Suppose ......1.....each person drives 5 miles to work(10 miles round trip) 2...each vehicle gets 18 m.p.g. 3....gas is $3.50 per gallon 4....this would cost each driver $1.94 per day
5...get 40,000,000 to not drive for one day 6...this would total $77,000,000.00 per day
7....do this 4 days in a month and this would total $310,400,000.00 per month
Maybe then the Gov., the Big Oil companies and a few others would understand a little better!

5 miles are totally do-able on a bike. Suppose every person that drives 5 miles to work just started to ride their bike EVERY TIME ~ EVERY day ( or at least during the good weather). Now THAT would make a serious statement!

the problem is a lot of folks live furthter than 5 miles from work, the road they'd travel on is too dangerous(interstate or bad neighbor hood)...
we already cut down to the minimum, my husband has to drive 10 miles one way to work 6x a week.He works for the goverment(ARMY) they wont let him stay home once a week. But we have a small car and when the weather is good he drives his Harley, which has a awesome gas mileage. We go grocery shopping every two weeks. if we forgot something my husband stops in the store on his way home. Even going to TSC gets combined with grocery shopping.
Gosh i wish the gas would be down to 1.35$ again.
