IMG_5013.JPG I own a 365nm Black light for blacklighting scorpions so I can get around in flip flops safely at night. I decided to see what the eggs do under a black light as I am constantly looking for those hidden nests. Now I have not conducted this experiment under field conditions I just did this in my living room. I have 2 Sumatra eggs in my box and they lit up the least, the OEGB was a bit brighter, and the Silkie eggs really lit up a bright pink. I could get out a tripod to get better pictures with my DSLR, but these are cell phone photos. Took the top photo with the DSLR it represented much more accurately how bright they glow.

I am curious if this only occurs with tinted eggs as the silkies are a light rose brown, and the other two breeds I have are pretty much cream color. If you have similar equipment please post your results.

How about a pic of a scorpion in black light?
Those glow green, I have one somewhere in my history I caught in a jar. They obviously see in that spectrum of light because they will be still until you light them up. The one in the Jar is in with the milkweed seeds I was collecting.

Cool, thanks!
Looks like black light is much better at illuminating scorpions than eggs.
True but as you can tell by the normal lighting photos my eggs are all cream color of off cream color. The off creams for me really light up enough to be useful, and in darkness those pink eggs will be easy to spot! I will admit I care more about spotting the scorpions vs the eggs.

Late Edit
My wife was stung by one in Austin and was totally pookey for 24 hours.
