INTERESTING!What is it an egg?Check it out its Graphic-Pictures

just wondering.......

if a yolk sac "got stuck" could it start to develop (it would be warm enough) , causing the veins and then get caught in another egg going trough the system. sort of an egg in an egg.

.... still wondering

That's an immature follicle/yolk. All the attachments are what connects it to its blood supply during formation. Those vessels will recede as the yolk matures and then the yolk is sent through the system for its coating of albumin, membrane and shell. Somehow, that yolk never fully matured or died during formation and still got shunted through the plumbing with its moorings still attached. Disgusting... yet fascinating.

I just got a great lesson in laying hen anatomy this past weekend when I had to cull some of my neighbor's egg-eaters. I don't typically butcher (my) laying hens, so I jumped at the chance to do this. It was incredibly interesting and gave me an entirely new perspective on hen anatomy. As soon as I saw the pics I knew exactly what I was looking at.

That would be fun to cook up in an omelet with that thing sticking out the top. Be a good way to get someone to stop eating eggs. That's really gross.

I don't know why I look when I've been warned that it's graphic...or maybe that's why I look...train wreck syndrome.

Anyway, great explanation, CMV...but I liked the alien one better.

Don't even get me started on some of the stuff I've found in our boat! I think you're better off with your chickens.

And I might have been eating a Popsicle when I clicked this post. Needless to say, I am not any longer.
