today i opened a little door between the little kids' pen & the big girl's run. the little ones could use it, but too small for the big girls. the little ones wasted no time going into the main run. they were in there a couple of minutes before the big girls came over. the greeting was very easy. a couple of pecks, but nothing serious. i sat in there on my short stool supervising for about 30 minutes. during that time the big ones charged & harrassed a few times. basically i acted like a mama hen & corrected the big girls. the little ones headed through their little door back to safety & then in a few seconds would head back out again. after awhile the little ones wanted to be back in their safe zone so i closed the little door w/ zip ties (zip ties are the best thing since duct tape. lol)
i have a dead end area i need to fix. the little ones can easily get trapped in there & it could be bad. i'm going to try doing this as frequently as i have time to sit there & supervise.
