New to the forum and currently at 2.5 weeks in raising my first baby chicks. I chose 15 and received 17 to start of the following breeds...

3 Speckled Sussex
3 Light Brahma
3 Silver Laced Black Wyandotte
4 Easter Eggers
4 Cuckoo Marans

Just moved my chicks from the standard metal bin brooder to a 3 pallet basement “coop” until they are ready to move outside...assuming Michigan weather will ever allow it. Wanted to share their new intermediate coop.

That’s a great “tween” coop for them!
I went home for a break from work today and my husband had built me a tween coop for my 2.5 week olds. :ya

I’m so happy because I’ve been brooding them in a kiddie pool that’s about 32 inches in diameter.
They’re getting too big for that one.

Quick update, added a few homemade practice roosts for the flock. Tween coop is 40 sq feet so should be good until they move outside.

It’s amazing how much bigger the Brahmas are compared to the others (especially the Speckled Sussex)...

What a lovely brooder you have :thumbsup Are you planning to raise more chicks and use it again? I think you must, you’ve gone to a lot of effort. You need to do a few broods :gig
