Internet to Direct Tv

Does anyone have their internet connected to their Direct Tv? Does a wire go from computer to D tv box, or do you have to purchase something from Direct? Are there free movies? Is it worth the effort?

I have DirectTV and I love watching shows on there. However I don't know if I have to keep my phone lines active because our computer modem is on landlines. I do know that when you have internet on satellite, bad weather would interrupt your games or whatever you are doing on line and watching TV.

It would be nice to drop landline altogether. We do have cell phones however doing stuff on cell phones are too small, not like your regular big laptops. I do not know how the connection would be like.

I had DirectTV and it was a HORRIBLE experience. I will never use any of their products/services ever again.

I have DishNet and a Logitech Revue that allows me to view anything that is on the Internet on the TV--I use it primarily for MLB games which DishNet no longer carries. Since we have a WiFi set up it is easy to use, actually turns the TV into an Internet computer. Wasn't all that hard to set up, just attach the DishNet receiver to the box, the box to the TV, turn it on and program it using the keyboard.
