Hello all,
I've been treating my 5 week olds with Corid. They have been through the first course, but I am still seeing this.

Is this shed intestinal lining? I am about to start the second course of Corid, but I would think that poo like this would have been eliminated. I have seen it in the water bowl almost every day...

The chicks are looking and behaving normally, so I would like to know if I should be looking for something else.

As long as the chicks are looking and behaving well, there shouldn't be any reason to not continue the Corid. I would recommend using a probiotic plain yogurt with cultures mixed in a little egg and feed with water. Probios powder is a commercial product as well. If a vet is able to check a fecal float in a few droppings, they may be able to tell you if the cocci is responding. Here are a couple of cocci articles to read:

That looks like intestinal lining to me. Bloody poo is more runny and doesn't clump as well.

However, distressed gut will shed more lining. It could be distressed due to the coccidiosis yet or as Eggcessive suggested due to lack of proper biotics.

If you had clear reason to start Corid, I would continue with the suggested probiotics. I'd also put apple cider vinegar (raw with mother, plastic water container only) in the water too. Just a tablespoon is necessary for a quart. ACV feeds good bacteria in the gut as well as acidifies the gut.

...and yes, if you can get a fecal sample to a vet do so. Over medicating does have some drawbacks (although Corid is less harsh than most meds).
