Intestinal lining two nights in a row. Just finished a corid round

Hello!

I’ve got a chicken who I’ve noticed to be acting a bit off. I know she is going through her first molt, so I assumed that was the reason. She isn’t acting sick, exactly, but doesn’t walk around too much and spends all day preening. She still eats and drinks, not super enthusiastic about treats.
Yesterday, I noticed she poop something red and blob like. Not like normal intestinal lining, but more of a blood clot. That got me worried because I haven’t noticed anything in the poops during the day (I scoop the runs twice a day and check for anything weird). So a few hours after the went to bed I went to check under the roost. Her poop has actual intestinal lining this time (orange/pink stringy) and so did her flock mate. None of my other chickens had this, as I checked all the other coops. Today seemed normal, all daytime poop looked fine. But when I went to check under the roost again, I found more intestinal lining. Not as much, and no more red globs, but it seems weird.
My issue here is they literally just finished a round of corid last week after I found a bit of blood in my other chickens poop. And they were wormed in April AND August. Had two cases of roundworm. I’m thinking the problem is the weather being 90 to 100 everyday and the rain every. Single. Day. It’s just a parasite breed ground!
I’m going to take her poop to the vet for a float tomorrow to see what the problem actually is, but what if they don’t have worms or cocci? What else could it be? Bacteria? Or am I being paranoid and this is normal?

The hen and her flockmate are 1.4 years old Blue Andulusians. The hen in question has never layed an egg and I don’t think she ever will, so I can’t use that as an indication to whether she is normal or not. Her flockmate still lays daily. They eat Kalmbach layer feed and treats (scratch, meal worms, dried cranberries).

Thanks!

Intestinal shed is perfectly normal, and some seem to do it more obviously than others.

Let the vet do the fecal float as you saw frank blood, which is usually coccidiosis, but the lining is not evidence of that.

You might consider putting them on medicated chick feed to get them over the hump of bad weather brewing cocci buggies.

My thoughts

So far I haven’t seen anymore of the red globs, just intestinal lining, and now it’s from multiple chickens. The test comes back tomorrow, so we shall see! So far everyone is acting fine. Thanks for the response!

Sometimes fecal floats may not show worms. Even if the fecal float comes back negative, I would worm the flock with Valbazen 0.08 ml per pound, or 1/2 ml given orally once, and repeated in 10 days. SafeGuard liquid goat wormer could be used 1/4 ml per pound given orally for 5 days. Be sure to shake the bottle well before drawing up each dose into a syringe.

Yeah it came back negative for worms, cocci, etc. I’m still suspicious, so I’ll worm them like you said! Thanks!
