Hello Everyone,

I hope I am posting in the correct spot. I am new to this forum. I am new to raising chickens. I got my first hen (Brahma) 1 year ago with another one (white???) to follow. Well they are still alive so I am doing something right. :) We purchased a 10 acre farm in Feb. My flock grew from 2 to 8 (2-Brahmas, 2 Wyandottes, 1 Australorp and a Barred Rock) when a lady gave me her birds. Then I inherited 2 more hens (silkie barn yard mix) and a Rooster ( some type of Bantam). Built them a large house and their yard is in my orchard. Then this last weekend we purchased 14 chicks (6 Buff Orpingtons, 6 Ameraucana or Easter Eggers and 2 Mottled Houdans). I am having a blast. My goal is to free range them during the day.

I hope you enjoy being a BYC member. There are lots of friendly and very helpful folks here so not only is it overflowing with useful information it is also a great place to make friends and have some fun.

You might want to also Find Your State Thread and pop in and say hello.

BYC has Topic of the Week discussions which I have found to be a great resource, informative and sometimes entertaining; so definitely worth checking out.
