Hi everyone. When I was a little kid my dad kept two ducks in the backyard and after they passed we got goose. When I was about 10 my dad had to leave so he decided to let the goose (quacks) off in the cemetery where there was a big duck pond. After we let her out of her cage, she went flying into the pond and was very happy. But then all the nearby ducks came and just started jumping on her and were trying to drown her it looked. She kept quacking for help and they just kept doing it. My dad really couldn’t do anything and just looked sad. my mom threw me in the car cause I was freaking out. If it happened now I personally would’ve jumped in the water to stop it, unless it’s normal behavior?

Anyways I have no idea what happened after that and I’d like to think they accepted her into the flock or she was at least ok. Anyone know the reason for their continuous jumping and ducking her head under water?

Total guess here, but when my drakes are trying to breed the girls, they jump on them and try to hold their heads under water. So, they either were trying to breed her OR just exercise their dominance over her -- I even have female ducks who will jump on another female.

Since she was likely much larger, I would believe that she was able to escape and find a flock of her own. I'm sorry about Quacks and that you had to be scared.

Welcome to our FUN-omenal Flock!
