I know this has been asked but I really just need someone to give me an answer without also discussing other brands or percents. When I read threads I get confused on how much I give due to metroplex being 70%. I don’t have time to search/buy anything else, I really really need the correct dose, bird is 4lbs.

My silki roo Elon has been sick with what I believe is respiratory or maybe fungal - not eating or drinking and has the inability to crow. He try’s and if a noise comes out it sounds really weak. His eyes are clear, no bubbles, no nose drainage, no funky smell. Throat has a gurgle, he was breathing heavy a couple days ago but that has now hopefully stopped. Crop seems borderline squishy, but isn’t the worst I’ve dealt with.
I have gave him safeguard ivermectin, vit. E supplement and doxybird 1 7.5 mg a day for the past 3 days.

Now I’m going to try MetroPlex which is 70%
Can’t find a straight simple answer for dosing my little guy so I’m scared to overdose him.
How much do I give and how do I give it. I want to only treat Elon.

Sorry to see you never got an answer! And very sorry to hear bout your sweet rooster!

What I would do is make a smaller amount then what it says. So what I mean is cut the recipe in half if that makes sense. You will have leftovers.
Do you add water to this?

Have you treated for Sour Crop? The crop being squishy, I'd check to make sure it's emptying overnight. Look inside the beak for any lesions or canker.
If the crop is not emptying, then treat according to the article below.

Metroplex contains Metronidazole which is commonly used to treat Canker (Trichomoniasis). Does he have any lesions or canker inside the beak, a bad rotten smell?

You'd have to do the calculations to come up with a fairly accurate dose. Metrondizole does however seem to have a relatively wide dosage range of 10-50mg/kg, so you have some wiggle room on dosing. https://poultrydvm.com/drugs/metronidazole

Below is a bit more info found on Metroplex, starting at the quote below and math on the following page, I hope that helps.

If the product you bought is 70% metronidazole that means that each gram (1000 mg) contains 700 mg metronidazole and 300 mg of "stuff". Did you buy the 5 gram product?
