Hi! My wife and I have 7 rescue chickens and a rescue Pekin duck who was raised since hatched with chickens. The chickens are all hens and the duck (Graham Quackers) is female as well. We have two Americaunas, two buff orps, two Cochins, and one Serama from the local animal shelter. She’s named Hen Solo because she has no pair. We have a livestock guardian cat (yes cat, and yes she takes her job seriously). Her name is Lina and she checks the coops, under and around everything several times a day, and after she helps put everyone inside the coop, she hops up on the roof and lays and watches the coop. We just had a surprise box with 5 chicks in left on the doorstep. I have had chickens in PA but never in FL and the heat in summer is so, so hard. They are fun though and worth every minute.
