Hi Group,
My name is Stephen i am not new to birds but i am new to Ducks and Chickens.
i Bought a property in Geelong Victoria Australia and took over on the 11th October 2017.
The day i moved in 32 Ducks hatched which i knew nothing about (the old owner was very bad at passing on information) so my moving day was spent erecting enclosures to keep them all safe as the old owner had them all free range and i lost 4 to crows in the first hour. (Big Big Learning curve)
when i moved in there was 48 ducks (Muscovy) and 3 chooks, to date i still don't know what breed but i suppose because they don't cause me any problems so far i have not focused on them.
I inherited 3 goats all friendly and a joy as well as a pain to look after.
i bought as part of the property a boarding cattery so until now i have been focused on the cattery and the ducks.
I found this group by accident when i was researching a problem with my ducks which was answered here (Go figure)
I love all animals and eventually the farm will be a group of businesses from the cattery to breading ducks and chickens to animal therapy clinic (I have a therapy pool and treadmill)
I love training animals especially dogs which i do for the Australian government as my real job.
My other pets include 2 dogs & 2 cats.

I am looking forward to using this site to gain knowledge and make like minded friends in the bird world.

Regards
Stephen

G’Day from Far North Queensland Stephen :frow Welcome and Congratulations on your new home! :clap

Sorry about your losses and also that I know nothing about ducks but BYC does have a Duck Forum

I do hope you enjoy being a BYC member. There are lots of friendly and very helpful folks here so not only is it overflowing with useful information it is also a great place to make friends and have some fun.

You might want to also pop in to the Aussie Thread and say hello.

BYC has a Learning Centre and also Topic of the Week articles which I have found to be a great resource and a one stop shop for questions which may have already been discussed within the BYC membership group.

If you would like to share Pictures and Stories of your flocks, you have come to the right place. BYC’ers never tire of these and do not back away slowly or commence eye rolling when the photo album or home videos come out ;)

Best wishes and good luck with your new venture!
