We picked up 10 chicks form a local farm. EE's, Olive egger, white leghorns, RI red, and a black cochin.
Unfortunately we lost an EE to resp distress, she was a slightly older chick compared to the other and one night she was gone. Sad start.
then the small black cochin couldn’t hang on, followed by a leghorn. Both these little gals deaths are a bit of a mystery.
the cochin was small and didn’t move much and I thought the stress of the move and kiddos handling them early may have caused it.
We were looking forward to this gal growing up, with all those feather and sweet demeanor, would have been a winner.
The leghorn looked great the night before and I found her the following morning,
Lucky the rest of them are lively and starting to feather out. I have them in a large cage kennel, in a room off garage. We put them on a non medicated org. feed and put some electrolytes in a couple days ago. They have a nice branch to climb on and we’re keeping a close eye on them.
I’m picking up some 12 x 4 pallets and I have a lean to style coop design in mind. I’ll be sure to start a thread when the time comes. Most likely get into it this weekend.
