Hello everyone, newbie here going to need some help moving forward. First time to own chickens, I bought my kids 5 australorps, and 5 red stars, and 1 brown leghorn rooster. And of course one of the australorps ended up being a roo. So we have 9 gems and 2 roosters.

One rooster can handle 10 hens, any less and the poor girls get over bred and over stressed. If you don't need a rooster for fertile eggs to sell or hatch, many people do without one . The hens will continue to lay the same amount of eggs albeit, non-fertile.
