Intro

Hi Everyone, thanks for letting me join...doing the mandatory intro

New to having chickens, who knew there would be so much to learn...

We have a bakers dozen...funny story, we were only supposed to get 6 Rhode Island reds and 6 Leghorns but when we got them home as day old chicks we noticed an extra Rhode in the mix...LOL, so far we have been fortunate not to lose any.

They are now a little over a year old, my elderly parents live in a granny suite and tend to them for the most part...the fresh eggs are great! I have been finding myself searching the forum a lot over the past year to assist with questions that come up from time to time.

Great forum and lots of solid advise here.

Cheers!
What a great intro. I agree there is lots to learn but I love my girl goofballs. I bet your folks love yours too. Glad you joined and welcome here.

:frow Welcome to BYC Mike, from down here in New Orleans. I am hoping to end up in thee same situation in a few years. I'll be the old chicken lady in the guest house in the back yard. I'll keep the chickens and the veggie garden ( and probably the babysitter). I am planning on trying to stay out of the way for the most part, except when I am needed.
I'll have access to the things I love, seems like a great situation, IMHO.
