Hallo,
I’m SlyPsychic, and just joined so thought I might as well answer the intro questions.
1. I’m not new to chickens really, had them when I was younger for half my minor years, but I am new to having my own chickens that I purchased and take care of (Idk, I’ve had them for 6, almost 7 months since hatch, and im still giddy that they are mine. I love chickens so friggin much)
2. I have 12, with a broody hen on like, 13-14 eggs. Please stop her. Jk. She’s too ambitious.
3. Right now I have 5 EEs (6 months, got them cuz I loved the patters on the babies, and the others were online, but look so pretty now, one black, one white with brown/grey mix that’s a very fine mix, a roo that looks like a Wheaten Ameraucana, and 2 gold/black hens, a very verru pretty golden colour, one with more gold than the other that’s mostly brown/black mixed with gold), 2 Lavender Orpingtons (6 months, I liked the grey colour), and A Welsummer and Golden Laced Wyandotte (6 weeks, I got the Welsummer bc I love Dutch things and thought I had some but was sad when I learned they weren’t Welsummers. And I got the Golden Laced Wyandotte bc I had a Golden Laced Cochin and I loved her so much and she was gorgeous but she was killed by a dog, and it’s basically impossible to find a hatchery that has them except for certain weeks of the year for like, 5 weeks) and 3 Salmon Faverolles (4 weeks, and I got them cuz I always wanted feather foot chickens, and as stated, Cochin died, and these look gorgeous when they grow up. One of the Salmon Faverolles had died and they replaced it, but had a 3 order minimum and my mum let me keep them) sorry for the rant, I love them too much and they are perfect.
4. I love chickens and birds in general, and chickens have so much personality and are so funny sometimes, and the eggs are very tasty, better than store bought. Never got to eat them much when I was younger (a waste really. Not used almost always thrown away.) but now I can use them and sell them and whatever. Much better.
5. I also enjoy watching shows on my iPad or reading audiobooks or real books. I enjoy tech a lot too and like to talk to people online in forums like this or discord. Memes are also a hobby.
6. I’ve got a very complicated family life due to me being adopted twice, but I love my family now, and I work as a CNA at various locations, and I live in Utah. I have other pets including 2 leopard geckos, and 9 fish (if you want a pleco or some gold fish and live in northern utah, hmu lol. I need to get rid of some to have room for them lol.) and my family has 5 cats (one of which is fat and I claim as mine) and 2 dogs. My dad is a city vet (mostly dogs and cats, occasionally others, but not chickens). We’re also still building the coop into a spot that my fam used to have horses. Using part of the coral for the coop (against the barn, in the nook) and the rest for the run (even tho I let them out of that and it’s not useful as a run anymore) but it’s mostly done and liveable, even in winter. Just need flooring and ceiling and proofing. One hen still escapes somehow. But she’s good at coming up to me to let me put her back. Was started as a surprise for me when I came back from a trip.
7. Found BYC by many searches, known about them since I got these chickens, and I joined cuz I have some questions and if I have any in the future
. Seems lots of people here are experienced or know somethings I don’t. Or other places don’t.
