That is a common factor here - all of us spent more than we planned. When people who don't own chickens say to me that I am saving money on eggs - I laugh and tell them I have the most expensive eggs ever.
Haha yes, I can definitely relate. I originally thought it wouldn't cost us much at all to get started. Boy was I wrong. So worth it though. The excitement of our kids every time they find an egg and seeing how much they love carrying the hens around and talking to them is priceless.
Hens go broody when you don’t want them to… and won’t go broody when you do.
