Hi
New member here. Have 6 chicks waiting for their coop. I have 4 olive edgers and 2 barnyard mixes. Hoping to get more eventually.
Do have one question? What’s the best way to protect from wildlife? I have lots of it at my house including bobcats and bears. The coop has a run that’s fence in and that’s into that ground but not sure that’s enough. Suggestions?
Thanks

Hello and welcome to BYC! :frow Glad you joined.

You need 1/2" hardware cloth well attached to all opens into the coop to make sure there are no gaps greater than 1/2". The walls of the run should also be well secured 1/2" hardware cloth, preferably with a solid, pitched roof.

I enclose my entire setup with electrified poultry netting charged with 10,000 volts. I also deal with black bears, bobcats, fishers, coyote, raccoon, weasels, opossums and the occasional roving dog. I have only had one loss to a hawk inside the electrified pen.
