Today I was cleaning the brooder and put the 12 little (2-3 day old) peeps in a small pen i had set up and just out of curiosity as to how my lone 4 week old would act towards them... I put him in with them. They really didn't mind each other at all and after awhile the chicks all huddled under my 4 week old. it was so adorable. My 4 week old was acting like a mommy. Then when I put the babies back, the older one didn't like it very much. My question is... Could I put them together permanately? I want to eventually, but for now I'm afraid that if I put them together The 4 week old may not warm them all enough. Should I just wait til the little ones get their feathers?

Oct 11, 2011 might work, but you'd definitally have to watch them the first few days. If you wait for them to feather in, you'd have to wait even longer- they'd probably be more hostile by then.
