Introducing a Dog to the Flock

I grew up with Dachsies, and I love them, but Bull headed and Obstinate are mild terms when referring to them! Their AKC standard says their personality should be "courageous to the point of rashness" (our males sure were) and when that's been bred FOR for generations, you just have to accept that.

Put an electric fence around your coop at dog nose height if she's ever left out in the yard alone...even if the chickens are shut in their run. Never leave her around them unless you're right there. Watch her closely and correct her when she 'alerts' to a chicken. Correct her the second she gets interested in them.

Thanks again everyone for your suggestions - although Bella is sweet and loving, I understand she will always have to be supervised when around the chickens!!
