Introducing a mature cockerel vs hormonal teenager

Culled my 13 week Delaware yesterday. Buddy had a 5 month old RIR that was at bottom of pecking order and getting injured by his two other roosters. So.... I now have a RIR cockerel. Now, never having introduced a fairly mature cockerel to a flock, I was totally amazed of the difference. He came out of his box. Walked through the pullets (25-26 weeks old) and better than half squatted for him right then and there. They were enthralled! He didn’t jump right on. He started scratching and tidbitting. Once they crammed around him for their handouts, he tucked a wing and danced. Sure enough, one by one he danced his way through submitting/mating with 9/10 pullets. No pecking, no squabbling, no negative anything’s.
He is friendly, which I would rather him not want to come up and say hello..... but he keeps a 3-4’ distance typically. My buddy eats anything that shows aggression.... so he hasn’t been human aggressive so far.

I will never introduce a hormonal cockerel again. This fella has shown what it’s supposed to be like.

Here he is just a couple minutes after being let out of his box.

It is nice to see a good rooster and his flock!

Often the difference is temperament of both the hens and the cockerel and not hormones though.
