Introducing a new arrival.

Hello all,

We had a single escaped battery chicken for a few weeks now, and have just (today) bought another chicken to keep her company.

Does anyone have any tips for introducing them?

Currently we have the new arrival in the run and the established one is out in the garden. The yare keeping their distance and there is plenty of clucking going on. Any tips to ensure a speedy and amicable introduction?

The only way you will find out is to put them together. Thay may be best friends right away, or they may be witches...

Hello, try putting your new "friend hen" on the roost with your other hen after sunset. I have been told that when they wake up, they don't know any difference!

Please, if you haven't already, quarantine your new birds for 30 days first before introducing them to your chickens.
It is very important to do this so you can watch for contagious illnesses. Sometimes chickens can "look" healthy and end up being very sick.
