We bought 6 chicks at TSC on Wednesday. We were planning on giving one of them to my sister who already has 7 almost 3 week old chicks. Is it possible to introduce just one new chick to a preexisting group? If so, when and how? Also how do we go about introducing the the other 5 to our group of 3 week old chicks?

Can you put a see through barrier in your brooder? Like a screen? Thats what I did and left it like that for about 3 days then moved the screen and they were fine. As for you sister chick I would do 2 that way the one would not be odd man out. Its always better to introduce more than one.
I just noticed you have a rat. We have 11. You may want to think about getting it a friend. Rats like chickens do better with a friend.
