I started a flock 4 months ago with 5 chicks and 2 of them turned out to be roosters. Luckily our feed store let me bring them back since my neighbors were complaining. They gave me another chicken (4 month old white leghorn) and my flock is being really aggressive towards her. I kept the new girl in the coop during the day and let the other 3 roam the yard, and at night I was able to get the new one on the roost with them. I have them separated again because I didn't want the new girl to get hurt. Any suggestions?

Introducing a single bird is hard. She is a light breed so also does not have much weight to throw around.

Can you get a second hen from the feed store so she is not the only target? Putting things in the run that she can dart behind and be out of sight may help. Multiple food dishes and water dishes make it hard for the others to keep her from eating too.

After a year in the big girl flock my leghorn hopped the 6 foot tall door to live with the mean bantam mom and her chicks. Her choice and oddly mean mom is good with it.

Chickens are weird.
