I have raised a Red Silkie Roo, Flame. He has never been especially friendly,he was in with my flock of silkies but was way too agressive with Hens and Roos alike, All the others are fine with each other, So yesterday I took him out to the Flock of Standard Chickens, but was afraid to put him directly in with them so I put him in the outside cage where they could look at each other for a while first, Well He bit me for the first time ever yesterday (he has always challenged me with that stink eye and the shoulder bumping thinging that they do But never bit me before, so today I went out and opened his cage to feed him and it was a full on attack, So I snagged his little fuzzy butt up and hung on to him holding him for a long time til he calmed down, tryed to put him back in the cage and he got loose in with the big chickens, and the Hens immediately went for him, chasing him down and pecking at him and jumping up trying to kick him, well he got a way and finely found a place to hide in the coop behind a bale of straw, a little later he was back out in the run with the girls in hot pursuit, I thought it would be my Roos Zues ( large Orpington ) And Oliver (Salmon faverolle) but other than a peck or two in his direction the boys have paid little attention to him, my concern is that the girls will hurt him. Should I leave him in with them and see if he can fit in or recage him. Or rehome him?
The girls seem to always be harder on the newbies then my roosters , but then again I never added a strange Roo in with them either, but the girls always are mean to the new hens that I put in there for the first couple of days and they work it out and no one is ever hurt aside from a little bloody nips to the combs and beaks. My concern is that he is like a third of there size and a roo to boot with an attitude. This is the little Pot Stirrer
