I have a 6 week old chick named Elle and we had a 6 week old duck named Daffy, but Daffy passed away yesterday and we got a new chick so Elle wouldn't be by herself. Well she didnt take up good with the new chick and she would peck her in her head and one time she opened her beak and tried biting her head and she just wasn't being very nice to her. Elle's old enough to be put outside right now and I'll just give her plenty attention since she lost her friend, but I got a new baby chick for the chick we got yesterday and I need to know how or what age to put the new baby chicks with Elle when they get old enough to go outside. These are my first chicks, so I'm not sure how to do everything exactly the right way. Any comments would help! Thanks!

Typically it’s best to start mingling them when they are closer to the same size. If you could find someone who had grow outs around Elles age they would Prob be stand offish at first but are able To defend themselves. The young new chicks can prob start mingling around 5-6 weeks. They are more independent by this age.

I’d try to find a friend for Elle that’s around her age. There should be someone in your area who has chicks that are her age you could buy or perhaps they’d even donate one.
make sure it’s not a cockerel though.
