introducing bantams into a standard flock...

My friend wants to give her two bantam silkies to me and I already have a flock of nine chickens with 2 roosters and 7 hens. They are about 8 months old and her chickens are about 2 years old. Does anyone know how I should introduce the two to my current flock?

Quarantine first, you won't regret it. But you MAY if you don't. A month is ideal I believe.

I put mine in at night after everyone had gone to roost. She got harassed for a while but that's the way of the chicken world. You can't stop the pecking order but I would keep an eye out for any over-the-top harassment.

Oh but they're bantams?? Hmmm, that may change things. I'm assuming you have standards? Maybe someone else can chime in.
