I'm sure this has probably been discussed before, but, I'm new to this group and new to raising chickens. We have 2 RIR in the coop, they are probably 6 weeks old. We have 6 gold sex links that are 3 weeks old. Do I just put the 6 in with the 2 and let them sort it out or do I introduce 1-2 at a time?
Thanks!

The RIR might peck on your sex links like crazy since their around 3 wks older but maybe not. The best action probably is to put them in the same place with partition(ie. chicken wire, cage) so they can see each other and interact without touching each other.

Right now I have 4 (51/2 wk olds RIR & Barred Rock) that is in the same big brooder with 10 (3 /12 wk olds RIR & Black Copper Marans) They'd been there together for 2.5 wks but with a chicken wire separating them.

I originally have an open bottom on the screen separating them ( I call it Berlin wall

) so the smaller ones can go in and out whenever they want to but I've noticed its not going to work out since the older ones are double their size and the smaller ones are getting hurt. I don't want to come home from work and they're all hurt. From time to time I let them mingle when I can supervise them- noticed still not working out, so maybe when I move them to a run. in few weeks to join my first batch of chickens (thats another story). Hope this give you some help, am sure there will be others here in this group that have more wisdom on integration of flocks (more experienced) that will chime in.
