Hi! We have two chicks, both finishing getting their feathers, and we have a few questions about them.

1. What is the best way to introduce them to our small flock of three?
2. When do you take off the heat lamp?
3. If we were to get more baby chicks, would we have to get two so they could be together?

Thanks in advance for all the help!

1. Here are a couple links that may assist you: https://www.backyardchickens.com/a/adding-to-your-flock
and https://www.backyardchickens.com/a/introducing-new-chickens-using-the-see-but-don-t-touch-method
2. Heat can be removed (this time of year) when chicks are fully feathered...4-6 weeks as a general rule. That's provided there is more than one bird so they can share warmth, and their accommodations aren't too drafty.
3. I think it would help with socialization if more than one same age chick is being raised at the same time. A single bird that doesn't feel accepted by the flock is a lonely bird.

Good luck to you!!!
