I have a Millie Fleur who is just under a year old. She lost her friend to a hawk about a month ago. I have since stopped her from free ranging and now have her in a large run. Anyway, she seemed very lonely all by herself. I could not find another hen her age, so I just got two six week old chicks. I am currently keeping them indoors because is seems quite cold yet. I am wondering when I should introduce them to her. I have brought the Millie Fleur into the house to let her check them out, but have not let her too close. I know she will want to to the pecking order thing and am scared she will hurt them if they are too young but at the same time I don't want her to be lonely anymore. Any advise?

Six weeks old is a fine age to let her meet them. I've added many at that age to full sized chickens. As long as they are fully feathered, they will be fine outdoors even if it is cold :)
