Introducing chicks to the flock help

So I had 4 6 week old chicks I had in a dog cage in the coop with my 8 13 week old chickens. A few days ago I removed the cage and they seem ok. They would chase them a little bit but nothing I was worried about. Then today I go out and they killed one of the 6 week old chicks. It was outside the coop in the run and was half plucked. Any suggestions on what I can do to prevent this again. I have put the 3 back in the dog cage.

Adult hens are mean.
It could take weeks or months for the older birds to accept new birds.
Pecking order is high with chickens.
Dont introduce chicks till they start clucking and can take care of themselves better.
Have a cage set up so they can see and hear each other but not touch.
