I have now posted twice about Christoph (one on picking his feet that has been resolved by wrapping in vet wrap with some stuff I bought and leaving on for 2 weeks now he does not pick them at all and one because he has cocci right now, presently being treated.)

Anyway I thought it was time to officially introduce him. he is either a Royal Palm or Narragansett or mix of the 2 and my ds and I hatched him in September (wish I had marked the date) At the time I had 2 out of 3 eggs developing and I thought both would hatch. When the second poult did not hatch and we were left with only one I desided to allow my ds to make it his pet. My ds is allergic it seems to everything with fur, for a while I planned on getting him a pig but before doing so I had him tested for all types of farm animals and wouldn't you know he is even allergic to pigs. The only animals he is not alergic to are turkeys, ducks, and chickens.

Anyway Christoph is doing well other than the cocci which is already getting better thanks to amprol and some buttered milk. He is really great and comes to his name. He was named by my ds who choose it after a child in his class named Christoph, the child thankfully thinks it is great.

I have now taken Christoph to my ds preschool for 2 classes and have 2 more to do, since he has only been around people and not really any birds he loves kids and let all of them pet him

He already understands the word no, and food, and I expect he will learn a great deal more as he gets older. I have a big parrot stand he hangs out on, and diapers I ordered in the mail. Luckily I have hard flooring throughout the house and mats that can be washed easily

He loves to snuggle and my ds who is 5 is very gentle with him although it may not look that way in the pics lol

And no he will not live in the house forever but I wont be leting him out unsupervised until he is too big for hawks and until I build him his own pen up against the house where I can use a dead light window so we can see him.

Well here are a few pics of him and my ds I will update this post as he gets bigger and with any shenanigans he cause.

A, a classic, a boy and his turkey. Like Timmy and Lassie, except with feathers. I hope all goes well and the turkey has many years as a member of the family.

lol

turkeys eat a lot (but not as much as you might think) but if outside they forage a lot too. they are great for protecting flocks I have used them for that before. My last juveniles ran arounf the whole back yard cause my thanksgiving turkeys were running with them, the hawks would not dare but alas they are all in freezer camp. As for Christoph he will never be diner unless he atacks my son, then he is stew.
