Introducing Ducklings to Duck-Duck?

Hello All,

I have seven knew ducklings and I would like to know the best way to introduce the younger ducks to the two older free range ducks I have. I intend on free ranging all of them once the little ones get old enough.

I took three female Pekin ducklings out yesterday and sat with them and one of the older ducks came straight over wanting desperately to get to the ducklings but I wouldn't let him get too close-- Unsure of what he would do. The other Drake couldn't have cared less.

BTW: This Drake has lost his Drake feather, sometime during winter I noticed it gone, it still has not grown back. Is this common? Will he ever grow it back?

Two very separate question, the latter just popped into my head... I appreciate any advice or comments on either subject! Thank you BYC!

Look no touch till the Ducklings mature and don't peep...

Yes very common to lose their drake feather. usually after molt it comes back but my Runner didn't have his for a whole year. Until he molted this past spring now it's back

I roll out chicken wire and put the babies in there then they can see but not hurt once around 2 mo of age.
