Hatching
Good morning all! I'm new to backyard chickens as well as owning birds.
We have a chicken coop with six 6 month old hens that are not yet laying. And 2 hens that are a year old. They are our only layers who rule the roost.
The question I have is about two 5 week old keets that we've had since they were 3 days old. They've been indoors in a brooder but I would like to introduce them to the flock and have them live in the coop with our chickens.
We let our chickens free range a couple of times a week and know wed have to keep keets in the coop for a while so they know it's their home.
My question is will it be okay for us to put the keets in a coop with adult hens at such a young age? I don't want any of them hurt.
Our Egyptian is the boss lady and occasional a feather eater. She's no joke.
What would you all, with much more experience, do?
Btw, I'm feeling a time crunch bc my boyfriend will have 15 quail hatch from our incubator in 3 days. (We have a separate coop for the quail) We need the brooding space but I would like things to go as smooth as possible for all birds.
I appreciate any and all advice!
