Hi my name is Terry
We live in France and a few months ago took delivery of 12 rescue hens. Commercial hens are slaughtered at 18 months old here so there are a number of charities that take the entire flock and re- home them
We have seen the transformation from a moth eaten group of traumatised hens with no idea what grass was to a thriving bunch who are eating an impressive amount of feed and bugs
We almost lost a hen to a fox but managed to drive it off, no obvious affect she was eating again within 10 minutes
Enjoying seeing the girls free range and having dust baths. One thing to try is take the contents of the bug traps and freeze the contents, keeps the hens cool in the summer with a bug ice lolly
