Introducing my babies and a couple questions

I literally just searched your profile to see if you got those chicks and how it's going. Congratulations!! Cute pics and names.

We got our chicks in a similar way last year: working with the chicken lady at the local co-op so ours didn't have to be shipped separately from the hatchery. It was a nice way to ease into chickens because we kind of had a team at the co-op. We'd go in and share photos and brag on birds 😊

Keep an eye on the poopy booties, that the poop isn't blocking anything or building up too much. A little poop is okay and preferable to over-addressing it, potentially irritating or exposing their butts to pecking.

Sometimes it's hard to know where the line is between over- and under-addressing things, but you get a feel for it. And you've noticed how quiet they are when they're comfortable--they'll also tell you loud and clear if there's a problem.
Thanks!!!! I am afraid of build up so I have been cleaning it if I see any on their fluff even if under the vent. So far only once a day. Wasn't sure if I should do it twice or if that was too much. The first one has been good since I cleaned it. The others are ok but looked like one may have had a bit again.so we will see. But they all seem happy

I check twice a day at the very start but if there isn't any/much issue, I cut it down to once a day.

Updated pics 6 days after having them. 2 pics of Dolphin trying to show how her feathers look. She is one of my EE

How are they all doing?
They are doing great! Jump out of the crate onto us when we open the door, well besides a few that are still more reserved. But a couple of those ones are starting to here and there as well. There are 4 of them that are the first out every time and hate to go back as they just want to sit with us and hang out. :) Even one that hates to be held is perfectly content to sit with us on our arm, shoulder or leg.

How are yours doing?

I love that time with them. It's wild how well you get to know their personalities when you raise chickens from chicks. Some of ours had habits in the brooder on day 1 that they still have now.

Our flock is great, thanks for asking. Egg-making machines. They started laying last summer/fall, so I didn't know what an egg rush-hour springtime would be. After a ton of thought, I decided to add more chicks this year and chose a breeder I've been following for the past year. I just found out she has our 8 babies scheduled to hatch a week early, so it's time to get the brooder ready. I'll go pick them up early next week. I'm super anxious for some reason!
