(1) Are you new to chickens / when did you first get chickens?
I got into chickens May of 2024 when the law was passed for single family homes to be able to have chickens in AZ, prior to that I had a hutch of 7 Coturnix Quail for about a year and now I have 21 quail!

(2) How many chickens do you have right now?
We have four hens but we're hoping to get a few more that lay fun colored eggs after we upgrade our coop.

(3) What breeds do you have?
ISA Browns

(4) What are your favorite aspects of raising backyard chickens?
Having fresh eggs, watching the chickens run around in our backyard, and sharing eggs with our community.

(5) What are some of your other hobbies?
I'm an artist, I do a little bit of everything but my favorite is watercolor pet portraits.

(6) Tell us about your family, your other pets, your occupation, or anything else you'd like to share.
It's just me, my wife, and our daughter. We have two, soon to be three, cats, also have four snakes (two cornsnakes, a ball python, and a red tail boa), a Sulcata Tortoise, a betta and three snails.

That is awesome that you keep reptiles! What morphs are your snakes?

I have a Caramel Motley cornsnake named Bob Ross aka Bobby Boi who lives in a tank in my art studio, my bestie is moving and leaving her cornsnake with me, he is a Lavender and named Jupiter

Our ball python is a normal named Brandy and the red tail boa is also a normal named Kylo

Yes I've wanted chickens my whole life, grew up in Alaska and a neighbor down the street would let me hang out with her chickens when I was little, even named a couple of her chicks and raised them Butterscotch and Buttercup, I don't know what kind they were but I loved them so much.

I haven't tried feeding the snakes quail eggs yet, my cornsnakes can eat the eggs once they get big enough. I have fed baby quail that failed to thrive to one of my corn snakes and our big snake Kylo has eaten an adult quail that needed to be dispatched but I couldn't bring myself to do it (it was a disabled roo from my first hutch of quail) so I'm very thankful for the snakes so nothing is wasted

I too love your name...my favorite bird is a chickadee. x2 on pictures, please!

Yes I love Chickadees! I was born and raised in Alaska and always had bird feeders full of wild birds and I'd hold the ones who ran into the windows till they were able to fly away. Another favorite wild bird of mine are the common redpolls! When my partner and I moved to Arizona I wanted a username that reflected my love of Northern wild birds and my new home in the desert
