Hello there -

Here's some fax about me:
  • My username, dinornis, was a genus of immense, flightless birds that dwelled on New Zealand prior to the arrival of humans. They were preyed upon by the significantly-smaller but extremely powerful haast's eagle.
  • when I get older, I plan on opening an organic, completely free-ranging poultry farm. Potential poultry include chickens, ducks, geese, and maybe emus
  • as the username suggests, my favorite animal is dinornis robustus, the South Island giant moa

Extinct birds aside, let's look at some modern-day ones, shall we?
  • six golden buffs
  • six golden-laced wyandottes
  • two barred rocks
  • one egyptian fayoumi (my personal hen, and my favorite one at that)
  • one speckled sussex
  • one australorp (our flock's head hen)
  • no roos at the moment

Here's a closeup of one of the golden buffs, staring into the camera with her reptilian eyes

Here's one of the golden-laced wyandottes foraging alongside one of six nigerian dwarf goats. When first introduced, the goats were very confused that they weren't, in fact, the only animals that lived in the pen

One of two barred rocks. During her pullet years, she took to roosting in the rafters of the coop and pecking anyone who tried to help her get down. "I can get down myself, thank you very much!''

My egyptian fayoumi hen, who has the fitting name of Tyrannosaurus Rex. She's smaller than I thought, but she's got an unbelievable amount of fight in her. She serves as the flock's "alarm bird'' in the absence of a rooster.

This is my first time raising chickens, and i'm having an unbelievably fun time. Initially I wasn't too sure about taking part in caring for them, but as soon as the 'rents brought home that box full of little peeping fluffballs, I was hooked.

Thanks for reading!
