Hi BYC community, here is a little about me, I am excited to get my first chickens in the next 2 weeks! I live in Tiverton, RI.
(1) Are you new to chickens / when did you first get chickens?
I have been reading, researching, and day dreaming about owing a small flock for over a year now. I am glad now that I have taken my time, as many decisions have changed as I learn more.
(2) How many chickens do you have right now?
I have placed my order with my local hardware store for 3 pullets.
(3) What breeds do you have?
I will be getting 2 Plymouth Rocks, and 1 Rhode Island Red
(4) What are your favorite aspects of raising backyard chickens?
I have learned so much from books and other chicken owners. And I prefer fresh eggs ever since I started buying them from a local chicken owner years ago.
(5) What are some of your other hobbies?
I play the violin, and enjoy gardening, knitting, hiking with my family, and reading, learning...
(6) Tell us about your family, your other pets, your occupation, or anything else you'd like to share.
my 2 children are thrilled about our chicken project! (my husband, a little less thrilled)
(7) Bonus: How did you find BYC, how long have you known about BYC, and what made you finally join our awesome community?
I read about BYC in Ashley English's book Keeping Chickens, and also heard about it from a friend.
