Hi everybody.
My name is Dick Seng, I live in Ellington CT, am retired, and have a small homemade coop and raise a vary small flock of Guineas.
Due to local predators, the flock has been as many as 7 adult birds and as few as three. There are three adult birds and one keet that is growing quickly.
This keet is the remainder of 13 that hatched in early November. Seems the weather changed too fast and most succumbed to the chilly weather. I had no brooder then or I could possibly have saved most.
The experiences this year enforced a desire to have an incubator and brooder on hand for backup to the quickly changing moods of the hens.

Anyway, here I am. I'll just listen and learn for awhile and post when I think I can add something.

You should be able to find all the information you need here on BYC. Enjoy!

Did your Guinea hatch the keets?? I couldnt get mine to sit, they layed feb-july, but they would get 30 eggs in a clutch, and never sat. I hatched most of mine under broodie hens, the rest in the incubator. guineas are notorious for being bad mothers, those hatched in natural settings often get lead through wet grasses, and dont make it from being chilled. Sorry about your losses, better luck next time. Keep us informed.

Glad you found BYC. From my own experience on this site I have found "you can teach an old dog". Welcome
