(1) Are you new to chickens / when did you first get chickens?

I have been in chickens for almost a full year! I got my first chickies from Chick Days in May of last year, and it has been a wonderful year! I’ve always wanted chickens, but just finally gave in last year. I have learned so much!

(2) How many chickens do you have right now?
Welllll... I started with 5 last year, and added 4 after that. I lost one adult hen to my cousins dog last month, so I went and bought 18 chicks... I think they call that chicken math? Whatever it is, I’m excited to watch them grow and add to my flock! I probably won’t be able to keep all of them, unless I buy a bigger coop... ;)

(3) What breeds do you have?

I have several...
Gold Laced Brahma (my rooster and one hen)
Black Austrolorp
Easter Egger
Barred RockX
Brown Leghorn

RIR
Barred rock
Black Sex Link
Cuckoo Marans
Buff Cochin
Black Copper Marans
Welsummer
4 assorted bantams

(4) How did you find out about BackYardChickens.com?

I searched “chicken” in the App Store... but I had searched chicken questions online and BYC always seemed to pop up.

(5) What are some of your other hobbies?
I raise horses and beef cows. I also crochet and knit.

(6) Tell us about your family, your other pets, your occupation, or anything else you'd like to share.

I work in the family business, Ken Richardson Knives. We make custom knives.
I have two chihuahuas and several dogs running around the farm.

I do hope you enjoy being a BYC member. There are lots of friendly and very helpful folks here so not only is it overflowing with useful information it is also a great place to make friends and have some fun.

Including your general location on your profile will assist others. Location, climate, season etc can be important factors when members are responding to any questions you may have and vice versa.

BYC has Topic of the Week discussions which I have found to be a great resource, informative and sometimes entertaining; so definitely worth checking out.

If you would like to share Pictures and Stories of your flock or other critters, you have come to the right place. BYC’ers never tire of these and do not back away slowly or commence eye rolling when the photo album or home videos come out ;)
