Introducing myself

Hi! :frow Welcome to BYC! Decide how many chickens you want, and then before buying any, build your coop big enough for twice as many as you think you want. This will save you a bunch of time and energy later when chicken math kicks in. :lau Then build your run 3 or 4 times as you think you need, because, well, you'll be glad you did when you end up needing to divide it for some reason to add a separate run and coop. Yep, at least in my case, there is coop math too. :lau. I know you will enjoy chickens in retirement. I started keeping them 4 years ago in retirement. Best decision I ever made. Just wish someone would have told me there was going to be math. :old:gig

@ValerieJ coop math, yes!! My husband just doesn't get it... He says the backyard looks like a hobo camp :gig
Ask your DH just how many hobo camps he's seen!?
I mean, are they happy little hobos in your backyard? That's all that matters, right?
Tell him you might have to do some upgrading if it's that bad (that would quiet my DH).

:lau:gig You got that right! I think if I say "I need you to build..." one more time, I'll be living out there in my hobo town! I dont think my ducks would mind a roommate! :love:bow
