My life-partner and I are about to go and spend a sabbatical in the muddy countryside of Northern France, where we'll be keeping a few layers for the eggs. Of course, we'd also like to keep rabbits, geese, pigeons and a pig - but we'll start easy, just with the chooks.
We'll be buying most of our stuff - feed, pullets etc - from our local markets and farm-stores there.
Although I'm a Londoner, I'm not a born-and-bred (they're just one of the many groups who make up this amazing city: to become a Londoner, you just have to arrive as more than a tourist) - I'm a country-boy by birth, and we always had chickens, so it's not new to me.
