Hi all. I'm Lita & I live in Oklahoma in zone 7a. Last March I came home from work to find my son in the backyard fixing my greenhouse door. He said he had something to show me. 4 cute little Leghorn chicks! Right away it was apparent that one wasn't a hen. So, Foghorn went to the country to live on a farm & they traded a Barred Rock hen for him (which also might be a rooster, my son thinks). The barred rock is a lap chicken! I tote this little chicken around everywhere! I have 3 young bunnies & an old rescue bunny who also want to be lap bunnies, but this crazy little chicken usually wins out! Today my son bought me 2 tiny Easter Eggers & 2 Plymouth Blue Rocks. They're adorable, of course! The Leghorns (I call them "The Christines" since I can't tell them apart!) are just about ready to start laying. The Lap Chicken is about half their size. I will be glad when I can let Lap Chicken out of her (his?) pen, which is inside the big coop. I'm officially The Crazy Chicken Lady now! I've learned a ton by reading posts on here, so I thought it was time I finally joined.
