Introducing myself

Hi. I'm brand new to this site. I just registered after spending yesterday & today looking through the archives for info. I'm married with 4 kids, 2 cats, and a dog. I'm in Iowa, and I'm planning to get my first chickens this spring. I have a shed that I'd like to convert for a coop, so I've been looking at all the coop design and feeder/waterer threads. Actually, the shed is big enough I'm planning to convert only 1/3 of it for the chickens. I've found lots of great info already. I'm thinking I'd like to start with 4-6 chickens for eggs. I'm also thinking about getting some birds for meat.

If you have not read about chicken math yet you will soon find out that one day all of the shed will be for the chickens.
